Sherry with Charlie & the Great White Wolf - Johnathan Coby

Growing up in cowboy country of Montana I began writing stories at an early age. This passion has continued throughout my life even as I worked and raised my children. Through 15 years in the medical field I saw and learned about pathos, emergencies, and death. Changing gears with the children out of the nest I took a position close to my heart. At the Montana Department of Livestock I have worked with Montana's modern cowboys and producers. For 11 years I have pursued my interests in the historical aspect of the cowboy life as well as how producers survive today. Writing has become my opportunity to share my interests and knowledge on the passions of my life.

Ever interested in animals, I wanted to become a veterinarian or writer as a child. An advocate for unwanted animals I have studied wildlife and animal abandonment issues, looking for ways to encourage others to take up the cause. I currently share my home with 2 abandoned cocker spaniels, and used to take in abandoned or unwanted horses at my "orphanage" before moving off the ranch.

Cowboy culture, historical sites of the west and animals are my part of my many interests. I enjoy sharing these interests through art work and writing. In line with that interest many of my paintings are displayed on antique pots, pans, and articles from the farm or ranch.

For the past year I volunteered by grant writing for a local child advocate organization working to prevent bullying and child abuse. This has become another passion as I learned the numbers, effects of this almost epidemtic problem. I hope to share this issue in my writing.
